She was predeceased by: her parents, Edward Bullock and Sarah Lee Bullock; her husband Herbert C. Melvin; and her siblings, Floyd, Samuel, Joseph, Walter, Wallace, Marvin Bullock and Octavia B. Vaughan.
She is survived by: her children, Renita S. Williams (Michael) and Michael C. Melvin; her grandchildren, Michele R. Allen (Courtney) and Brittany L. Arnett (Gabriel A. Ortega); her great grandchildren, Eliza M. Allen and Everleigh I. Ortega; her stepgreat-grandchildren, Courtney Allen, Jr., Elijah Allen, Shanya Allen, Daymar Dickerson and Courtanya Allen; her siblings, Edward Douglas Bullock and Nannie B. Thomas; and her aunts, Daisy, Jean and Jeda. She is also survived by her family and doted on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Viewing was held on Friday, November 15th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the O. H. Smith & Son Funeral Home (3009 Chestnut Ave, Newport News, VA 23607). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 16th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Wesley Grove United Church of Christ (2308 Roanoke Ave, Newport News, VA 23607). A burial was held on Saturday, November 16th 2024 at the Hampton Memorial Gardens (155 Butler Farm Rd, Hampton, VA 23666).
