With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Bettie Guy (Newport News, Virginia), born in Greenville, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on December 12, 2024 at the age of 87. She was predeceased by: her parents, James Henry and Mary Lee Perkins; her husband Albert; and her siblings, James Lee, Roosevelt, Julian and Christine.

She is survived by: her daughter Patsy G. Sheppard (Lorenzo); her grandchildren, Lauren and Lorenzo, Jr. (Stephanie); her great grandchildren, Landen, Londynn and Skylar; her sister Molin Wilson-Byrd; and her nieces, Mary Lee, Carole Ann, Dee Dee, Yolanda, Crystal, Anita and Sabrina. She is also survived by nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Viewing was held on Wednesday, December 18th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Thursday, December 19th 2024 at 9:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Thursday, December 19th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church East End (3000 Jefferson Ave, Newport News, VA 23607).
