It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bernice Austin (Newport News, Virginia), born in Hampton, Virginia, who passed away on December 12, 2022, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, William "Shine" Wilson and Pearl Eola Wilson; and her siblings, Joseph "Rudy" Wilson (late Ernestine), William Henry Wilson Jr. (Bonnie) and Gwendolyn Moore (late Robert "Buddy").

She is survived by: her children, Pamela Lipkins (Thomas Sr.) of Portsmouth, VA, Wayne Austin (Lisa) of San Diego, CA, Darryl Austin (Cynthia) of Elgin, Gary Austin (Casonya) of Hampton, VA, Carla Harris (late Curvin) of Hampton, VA and Gayle Brown (Quinton) of Williamsburg, VA.; her sisters, Janet Webb (late John) and Joyce Nanton (Ulmont); and her grandchildren, Thomas Lipkins Jr. of Georgia, Kim Wilson (Terrence) of Virginia, Courtney White (Darian Sr) of Texas, Wayne Austin Jr. of Maryland, Michael Austin (Chiemi) of California, Susan Austin of Virginia, Noah, Kyle Austin of California, Darryl Austin Jr. of Virginia, Shalana, Shamari Austin of Virginia, Dominique Hollier (Stephanie), Brandon Austin (Nikole) of Virginia, Darrius Carter (Teira) and Asia Jackson of Georgia. She is also survived by mother to her 6 children, nieces, nephews, and friends.
