It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Barbara Ownby Shumaker of New Canton, Virginia, who passed away on April 12, 2024, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Max Ownby and Alma Ownby of Dillwyn; and her husband James R. Shumaker. She is survived by: her brothers, Jerry Ownby (Donna) and Rodney Ownby (Sandra); her sister-in-law Virginia Erwin; her nieces and nephews, Andy Shumaker (Lisa), Lonny Shumaker (Jenny), Shane Shumaker (Tracy) and Jason "Turkey" Shumaker (Tina); her grandchildren, Ricky Shumaker (Christina), Jessica Moss (Ben), Karah Shumaker (Carson), Briana Woodson (Derek), Kinsey Allen (Carter), Joshua Shumaker and Madison Shumaker; her great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Ainsley, Mallory, Austin, Alexis, Addison, Arlis and Trevor; her close friend Patricia "Pat" Johnson; and also Randy Loyd (Tammy).
