She was predeceased by: her parents, Arthur Lee Downey and Odessa D. Downey; her husband John Harvey Bland; and her sibling Lessie Downey Brown-Hilliard. She is survived by: her godchildren, Bettye Gregory Day-Preston (George), Joan Bland Taylor-Bonds (Elton), Kirk Parker Thorpe (Marjorie), Barry Day (Renee), Tamika Bland, Marshea Taylor, Kirk Thorpe, Jr. and Keon Thorpe; and her nephew Cleotis Brown. She is also survived by other loving relatives and caring friends.
