He was predeceased by: his son Lee Cosby Prettyman, Jr.; and his brother David Steve Slaw. He is survived by: his parents, Martha Lee Cosby of Lewes, DE and Clarence James Prettyman III (Susan) of Silver Beach; his son Kevin Walker Prettyman of Austell, GA; and his siblings, Christine Prettyman (Bob Murray) of Fairfax Station, VA and C. J. Prettyman IV of Virginia Beach, VA..
