She was predeceased by: her parents, Jess Willard Nelson and Elsie Hazelwood Nelson; her husband David L. Akers Jr.; and her siblings, Lorene Akers, Nina Shorter, Imogene Akers and Lewis Nelson.
She is survived by: her daughter Teresa Lauinger (Bob); her granddaughters, Jennifer Irwin (David), Katherine Lauinger and Jessica Donise (Will); her sister Betty Shorter; and her brother-in-law Johnny Shorter.
