He was predeceased by: his parents, Jessie J. Sheffer and Vada Sheffer (Moats). He is survived by: his sons, Carroll Andrews (Linda) and Jimmy Sheffer, Jr. (Angela); his brother Buddy Sheffer (Kim); his grandchildren, Nichole Van Pelt (Stephen), Jonathan Andrews (Lisa) and Dillon Sheffer (Paige); and his great grandchildren, Addison Van Pelt, Noah Van Pelt, Tinsley Andrews and Alexander Van Pelt. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
