He was predeceased by: his parent Winona Frances Root; and his siblings, David Sheets, Imogene Vest, Anita Wiggins and Bobby Sheets.

He is survived by: his children, Deborah Sheets Reece (Phil) of Staunton, Barbara Sheets Sykes (Jeff) of Mt, Earnie Sheets of Mt, Eddie Sheets (Melissa) of Staunton, Eric Sheets (Jackie) of Mt, Melissa Sheets Brooks of Waynesboro, Mendy Sheets Lawrence (Tim) of Mt, David Sheets (Toni) of Mt, Sidney Blosser and Joy Sheets Blosser (Ryan) of Churchville; his sisters, Annie Harris of Staunton, Katie Ocheltee of Staunton and Diane Sheets of Verona; and his friend Norman Good of Mt. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
