With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Richard Lewis Thomas Jr. of Montpelier, Virginia, who passed away on January 30, 2025 at the age of 70. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his father Richard Lewis Thomas Sr.; his brother Gibson Thomas; and his brothers-in-law, Fred Copeland, Earnest Thomas and Jerome Shelton.
He is survived by: his mother Nancy Leola Thomas; his wife Gwendonetta; his children, Danita Thomas Stewart (John) and Richard Thomas III (Christie); his siblings, Shirley Copeland, Cynthia Hall (Melvin), Sandra Graham (Doctor Donald Ray) and Sherman Thomas (Yvette); his sisters-in-law, Glenda Thomas, Gay Shelton, Geraldine Shelton (Wayne) and Mariela Thomas; and his granddaughters, Kaylyn Stewart, Kaili Stewart, Kiana Stewart and Siera Thomas. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Viewing will be held on Friday, February 7th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Bethany Baptist Church (14683 Bethany Church Rd, Montpelier, VA 23192). A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 7th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Friday, February 7th 2025 at the Roselawn Memory Gardens (13389 Mountain Rd, Glen Allen, VA 23059).
