He was predeceased by: his father Richard Lewis Thomas Sr.; his brother Gibson Thomas; and his brothers-in-law, Fred Copeland, Earnest Thomas and Jerome Shelton.
He is survived by: his mother Nancy Leola Thomas; his wife Gwendonetta; his children, Danita Thomas Stewart (John) and Richard Thomas III (Chrisie); his granddaughters, Kaylyn Stewart, Kaili Stewart, Kiana Stewart, Siera Thomas and Salone Green; his siblings, Shirley Copeland, Cynthia Hall (Melvin), Sandra Graham (Doctor Donald Ray) and Sherman Thomas (Yvette); and his sisters-in-law, Glenda Thomas, Gay Shelton, Geraldine Shelton (Wayne) and Mariela Thomas. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
