He was predeceased by: his wife Betsy A. Grant; his son Douglas E. Grant; and his grandson Owen A. Comly. He is survived by: his daughter Carron E. Grant-Comly (Charles); his grandson Nathan L. Comly; and his sister Marcia Tatum Adams. He is also survived by nephews and nieces.
