He was predeceased by: his parents, William Allen and Lois Rule (Rader); and his son William. He is survived by: his siblings, Mavis, James and Katherine; his wife Carol Pace Rule; his children, Jann Shenk (Larry), Sally Rule-Gwinn and James "Jimmy" Rule; his grandchildren, Jonathan Shenk, Jill Midgett (Jimmy), Katie Shenk, Sara Erwin (Ben) and Taylor Gwinn (Aaron); and his great grandchildren, Jacob, Hailey Johnson, Parker, Logan Shenk, Gray Midgett, Henry, Hazel Loring-Shenk, Rose, Lillian Erwin and Kailu Garcia-Gwinn.
