He was predeceased by: his parents, James Otis and Icie Grey Chestnut (Gutshall); and his siblings, James Otis Chestnut, Jr., Carl Chestnut, Curtis Chestnut, Darrell Chestnut, Lyle Chestnut, Stewart Chestnut, Christine Chestnut, Juanita Thompson and Ila Claytor.
He is survived by: his wife Thelma Chestnut (Beverage); his son Anthony "Tony" Chestnut; his son-in-law Derrol "Julian" Johns, Jr. of Washington, DC; his grandson Shane Chestnut (Ali) of San Diego, California; his great grandchild Valentina Chestnut; and his siblings, Bobby Chestnut (Edna) of Stephens City and Anita Cauley of Hot Springs. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and caring friends.
