He was predeceased by: his parents, Jennings Judy and Maria Tate Swecker (Sterrett); and his siblings, Francis Celia Crown, Betty Ann Abbott, William Sterrett Swecker, George Reid Swecker and Robert Tate Swecker.
He is survived by: his wife Ruby Phyllis Hevener of Monterey; his children, Jeanne Lynn Swecker (Tom Lowum) of Lake Norman, NC, James Leland "J. L." Swecker II (Margie Swecker) of Clendenin, WV and John Reid Swecker (Pamela Swecker) of Midlothian; his grandchildren, Sarah Michelle Lowum of Greenville, SC, Matthew Thomas Lowum of Corning, NY, Joshua Michael Swecker of Morgantown, WV, Jacob Matthew Swecker of Morgantown, WV, Elizabeth "Tate" Swecker of Midlothian and John "Jack" Chatfield Swecker of Midlothian; and his sister Mary Judy Riddick of Franklin. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
