She was predeceased by: her parents, Hattie Howard and William Henry Burton; her siblings, Ralph, Norman, Melvin, Rex, Allen, Luke, Evver Timpson and Othella K. Stallings; her son Walter Allen Woodruff (Evelyn); and her granddaughter Lillie Woodruff.

She is survived by: her children, James Woodruff, Jr., Darnette Hill (Andrew), Rev. Darnelle Winston and Angela Scott (Larry); her grandchildren, Dwight, Jacqueline, Dana, Christopher, Latanya, Andrew III and Raven; and also, Phillip, Donnie Carter, Shirley Logan, Charles Waugh and Joyce Sorrells. She is also survived by many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mary's memory to Chestnut Grove Baptist Church, Monroe, Virginia.
