It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Chester Lee Bates of Moneta, Virginia, who passed away on March 24, 2025, at the age of 65, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
In the quiet moments of reflection, amidst the gentle rustle of leaves and the whispered song of the stars, we shall carry Chester's memory with us, a guiding light illuminating the path ahead. May Chester's journey be filled with peace and serenity, as his find rest in the embrace of eternity.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Jim Bates and Mary Ethel Robertson. He is survived by: his sons, Christopher Bates (Faye) and Jason Bates (Melissa); his grandchildren, Payton Hartberger, Jason Bates, Jr. and Abigail Bates; his stepgrandson Seth Koon; and his sister Dale Thomas. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, April 4th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Tharp Funeral Home (320 N Bridge St, Bedford, VA 24523).
