He was predeceased by: his parents, Ancil Russell, Sr. and Ora Long Russell; and his wife Mary Lee Wray Russell. He is survived by: his son Mike Russell; his granddaughter Taylor Russell; his stepgrandson Kyle Wright; his sister Linda Vest (Randy); his siblings-in-law, Shirley Light (Melvin) and Jimmy Wray (Linda); his niece Annette Vest; and his daughter-in-law Tracy L. Russell.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources in Junior's name.
