He was predeceased by: his wife Miyoko Saito Mitchell; his parents, David Mitchell and Catherine Mitchell; and his brothers, David and William Mitchell.
He is survived by: his children, Irene "Mieako" VanStory (Mike Ramkey), Richard Yoshio Mitchell (Andrea), Kathy Holt (Ron) and Debbie Mitchell; his grandchildren, Christopher Holt, Curtis Holt, Richard Mitchell, Brandon Mitchell, Kelley Holt and Billie VanStory; and his great grandchildren, Christopher Holt, Jr. and Cayden Holt.
