He was predeceased by: his parents, Boyd Sears and Doris Sears. He is survived by: his wife Barbara A. Sears; his children, Celeste Roberts and Sergei M. Sears (Katie); his grandsons, Joshua Roberts and Tanner Sears; and his siblings, Marcia Clements, Karen Humphrey and Kevin Sears. He is also survived by numerous cousins and extended family.
