He was predeceased by: his parents, Betty June Nelsen and Glenn Arthur Hunter. He is survived by: his wife Marian Elizabeth Pope; his former wife Marian Hunter; his children, Candice Shelor (Wayne), Daniel Hunter and Kelly Carroll; his grandsons, Gregory Shelor, Claiborne Carroll Jr., Noah Carroll and Zachary Shelor; and his sister Judith Thuney.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ed's name to Wounded Warrior Project.
