He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Moats and Alice Moats; and his sister Delores DeGardeyn. He is survived by: his pet Allie; his wife Laura 'Jo Cox Moats; his daughters, Rebecca Moats Miller (Charles) of Warrenton, VA and Elizabeth Diane Woodson (Steven) of Midland, VA; his grandsons, Michael, Brent, Steven and Jeremy; his great grandchildren, Asher and Anna; his niece Anna-Marie; his nephew Johnny D; and his sister-in-law Ginny.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice.
