She was predeceased by: her parents, Nathaniel Gay and Gracie Smith Gay of Wakefield, Virginia.; her son James Oliver Junior; and her siblings, Leslie, Thomas, Nathaniel Jr., Fred, Allen, Elnore, Nell and Doris.
She is survived by: her husband James Ruffin; her sons, Roderick and Lamont Ruffin; and her siblings, Gladys Stringfield, Louise Stith and Richard Gay. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, one god-son.
