He was predeceased by: his father George Clifton; and his brothers, Richard C. and Benjamin L. McFarland. He is survived by: his wife Anne McFarland; his children, Joy S. McFarland-Gale (Timothy) of Cross Junction, VA and Jay S. McFarland of Winchester; his grandchildren, Brittany N. McFarland, Loralei A. Gale and Nicholas S. Gale; his great grandchild Riley J. McFarland; and his sister Jean Mason (Harry) of Petersburg, VA..

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Disabled Veterans National Foundation in Steve's name.
