He was predeceased by: his parents, William B. and Geraldine L. Cox; and his sister Beverly C. Hodges. He is survived by: his wife Linda H. Cox; his children, William Michael Cox and Karen Schandel (David); his aunt Ann Graves; his grandchildren, Tyler, Cameron, Kendall Cox and Abigail Schandel; his niece Carol Blaylock (Mike); and his nephew Christopher D. Herren (Gina).

The family will receive friends 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 22, at Bliley's-Central, 3801 Augusta Ave. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 23, at Westhampton Memorial Park, 10000 Patterson Ave. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Children's Hospital Foundation, 2924 Brook Rd., Richmond, Va. 23220 or chfrichmond.org.
