He was predeceased by: his parents, Wiley E. Cross, Sr. and Eula Robertson Cross; and his wife Ellen Jean Dixon Cross. He is survived by: his children, Hallie Leighton (Chuck), Alison Denler (John), Martha Swafford (David), Rob Cross (Elizabeth) and Nat Cross (Lori); and his son-in-law Dean Pollet. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish to remember him may make gifts in his memory to the Covenant Woods J. Edwin Givens Scholarship Fund, 7090 Covenant Woods Drive, Mechanicsville, VA 2311.
