He was predeceased by: his father Hampton G. Joyner; and his siblings, Thomas Joyner, Leroy Joyner, Lewis Joyner, Hampton Joyner Jr., Shirley Joyner Bright and Brenda Joyner Smith.

He is survived by: his wife Barbara Jones Joyner; his children, Veronica Joyner Rodgers (Rashad), Brittany Joyner Jackson (Allan) and Garrett Joyner; his stepsons, Kirkland Wilson (Rebecca) and Vincent Wilson; his granddaughters, Morgan Rodgers and Micah Rodgers; his brother Robert Joyner; his siblings-in-law, James Bright, Jennifer Joyner, Christine Joyner and Cynthia Joyner; and his friend Eddie Hayes. He is also survived by nephews, nieces, cousins.
