It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert Alan Lane of Mechanicsville, Virginia, who passed away on February 2, 2022, at the age of 69, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his father Stuart P. Lane. He is survived by: his wife Debra Carter Lane; his children, Andrea Hammock (Jamie) and Rob Lane; his granddaughters, Grace and Maggie Hammock; his mother Gloria Lane; and his brothers, Steve Lane (Ginger) and Stuart Lane (Kathy).

The family requests that all those in attendance wear a mask.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the New Song UMC building fund or Hanover ARC.

“R.B. was a very special person to all who knew him. I worked with him indirectly on many occasions and attended meetings and conferences with him many times. He never met a stranger. His sly wit and keen sense of humor brightened many a day for me and others in his company. I have not seen him for many years since I retired from the OCC, but he kept in touch and sent stories and pictures. . He was kind, generous, and giving. I will miss his presence in my life. May God bless his beloved family.”
