He was predeceased by: his daughter JoAnn Smith; and his son-in-law Bill Rossi. He is survived by: his wife Betty Nix; his children, Michelle Johnson (Robert), Rob Seward (Cathie), Tracie Hollis (Dave), Julia Rossi, W. Keith Nix (Vicki) and Amy Proctor (Bobby); and his brother Carlton Pridgen. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren.

The family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the SPCA in his honor.
