She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph H. Perkins and Kate Talley Perkins of Kent's Store. She is survived by: her husband Morgan S. Smart; her daughters, Katherine Lynn Smart of Kissimmee, FL and Ann Smart Martin (Carl) of Madison, WI; and her granddaughter Kate Martin of Richmond.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Woods, her home of 22 years, or your local school library.
