He was predeceased by: his wife Irene Martin Garrett; his parents, William Garrett and Dorothy Garrett; his siblings, Kyle Eugene Garrett and Mildred Gunn; and his grandchildren, Ashley Lynne and Jamison Paul Garrett.

He is survived by: his sons, Billy Garrett (Debbie) and Bruce Garrett (Connie); his grandsons, Ryan, Chad and Cole Garrett; and his sister Thelma Stanley. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 4600 Cox Road, Suite 130, Glen Allen, VA 23060.
