He was predeceased by: his mother Thema; and his son Dr. Jeffery Bond. He is survived by: his wife Diane; his son Dr. Mark Bond (Katharine); his brother James; his daughter-in-law Angie; and his grandchildren, Kyle (Hannah), Meredith, Connor, Parker, Morgan and Brady.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be directed to the Deane Cheatham IV Memorial Fund at James Madison University.
