She was predeceased by: her husband Walter L. Thompson; and her brother Joseph Duncan Corley. She is survived by: her sister Virginia Corley Melton (Harry); her children, Ronald Thompson (Nancy), Kent Thompson (Terri) and Gale Smith (Chip); and her grandchildren, Daniel (Martha), Ross (Kimberley), Andrew, Chesley (Justin), Cort (Ashlan), Kyle (Christina) and Jill (Keith). She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held on Monday, February 17th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Shalom Baptist Church (8116 Walnut Grove Rd, Mechanicsville, VA 23111).
