He is survived by: his wife Ellen Petrea Hardy; his children, Mary Ellen Finch (Michael) of Yuma, AZ and John David Hardy (Katharine) of Lenoir, NC; and his brothers, David and Bob Hardy. He is also survived by five grandchildren.
