We are sad to announce that on January 30, 2022, at the age of 72, Jerry Sanford Payton Sr. of Mechanicsville, Virginia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Payton and Hazel Payton. He is survived by: his wife Sarah Payton; his children, Jerry Payton, Jr. (Melanie), Missy Mitchell (Beau) and Shawn Payton; his grandchildren, Will, Wayland, Henry and Emma; and his sister Cindy Coppinger. He is also survived by five brothers-in-law, four sisters-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hanover County Rescue Squad.
