He was predeceased by: his wife Sara Lavina Dengler "Sally". He is survived by: his children, James S. Wright, Jr. (Janis), Kate Smitherman (Kaustuv Das) and Kenneth Wright (Sherry). He is also survived by six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mended Hearts of Richmond, P.O. Box 70234, Richmond, VA 23255.
