He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Vermilyea and Hazel Abbott; his daughter Vicky Vermilyea Yates; his grandson Beau Vermilyea; and his great grandchild CJ Cunningham.

He is survived by: his wife Shirley Edwards Vermilyea; his son Jeffrey Vermilyea; his son-in-law Steve Yates; his grandchildren, Nicole and Christopher (Kyleigh); his sisters, Doris Bury and Ina; and his brother-in-law Bill Edwards.
