He was predeceased by: his mother Rita Jordan; and his aunt Margaret Brennan. He is survived by: his wife Ann Marie Brennan; his children, Ellen Brennan Spain (Drew) and David Brennan Jr. (Monica); his grandchildren, Gavin Brennan, Katelyn Spain, Emma Spain and Cameron Brennan; his sister Denise Reilly; and his uncle Joe Brennan.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
