He was predeceased by: his son Carter Hill, Jr.; and his father James Hill. He is survived by: his wife Linda H. Hill; his daughters, Amanda Hill Wyatt and Megan Hall; his grandson Braxton Carter Wyatt; his mother Wrena Hill; and his sister Cynthia Rosen.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor can be made to the American Cancer Society.
