He is survived by: his mother Mary Ruffin; his wife Josephine Ruffin; his children, Aisha Ruffin, Ariel Ruffin, Amber Reid (Jamal), Archie Lee Ruffin II, Kimberly Lewis, Karen Lewis and Quin Lewis; his siblings, Albert Ruffin (Julinda) and Emma Ruffin; his aunts and uncles, Geneva Powell, Dorothy Pair, Mrs Ella Cook, Kenneth Ruffin (Louise) and Ervin Pair; his nephew Cameron Watson; and his niece Tamika Ruffin. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

“To Archie Ruffin's Family. My family sends their condolences, Ruffin was a very good of friend of mine from the Marine Corps where we both served on the USS Longbeach(CGN-9) and the Trident Sub-base Marine Barracks of Washington. Ruffin introduced me to boxing while serving on board the ship and we were involved in a couple of boxing matched while in the Phillippines. I recntly talked with Ruffin about me visiting him this coming year (Summer Vacation). He will be missed and remebered. Hopkins.”
