It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ann Kizer Spain of Mechanicsville, Virginia, who passed away on January 10, 2024, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Ann Kizer Spain to pay them a last tribute.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Helen Kizer and Franklin Kizer; and her husband Melvin G. Spain. She is survived by: her children, Laurie Sweeney (Dale), Melissa Byrne (Brendan), Drew Spain (Ellen) and Paige Flanagan (David); her grandchildren, Taylor Housel (Zach), Madison Sweeney, Katelyn Spain, Ayden Flanagan, Emma Spain and Eli Flanagan; her great grandchild Finley Housel; and her sister Marion Renne (Merl). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Duke Children's Hospital, 300 W Morgan St, Ste 1000, Durham, NC 27701.
