He was predeceased by: his parents, William Hughes and Ellen Combs Hughes; and also Sherrie Hughes Stuart of Meadowview. He is survived by: his wife Ruth Ann Davis Hughes; his daughters, Sherrie Hughes Stuart and Lisa Hughes Sutherland (Rick) of Abingdon; his son-in-law George Stuart of Meadowview; his granddaughters, Jaclyn, Keely, Deana, Jenny and Kelsey; his great grandchildren, Alex, Makayla, Tateland, Isabelle, Logan, Jacob, Odin, Ember, Ridley and Bryson; and his great great grandchild Weston.
