He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Jennie Anderson Burnette; and his parents, Garnie Wayman and Ida Vivian Harris Burnette. He is survived by: his children, Richard Burnette Jr. (Rhonda), Darrell Burnette (Terri), Jeffrey Burnette (Tina), Ronda Barker and Heather Chaffin (DJ); his grandchildren, Richard Burnette III (Stephanie), Christian Burnette, Mary Katherine Burnette, Kayla Carroll (Zach), Phillip Burnette (Abbey), Brady Burnette, Jeffery Burnette Jr. (Meghan), Cameron Belshan (Matt), Grayson Burnette, Jay Burnette, Macie Marshall, Amie Barker, Mandie Barker, Avery Chaffin (Maggie), Emery Chaffin and Marly Jenna Chaffin; his great grandchildren, Jamison Burnette, Callum, Cohen Carroll, Nolan Burnette, Carter Belshan and Landry Weatherman; and his sisters, Elsie Stanley and Reeda Burnette.
Visitation was held on Saturday, April 5th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Gardner Funeral Home (202 E Oxford St, Floyd, VA 24091). A funeral service was held on Sunday, April 6th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
