It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Thelma Hayes of McKenney, Virginia, who passed away on January 31, 2025, at the age of 100, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Thelma Hayes to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, William Henry and Nellie Ann Tucker Ward; her children, Alethea F. and Aaron A.; and her siblings, Christine Hartwell, Irene Hopson and James Ward.
She is survived by: her close friend Charmlen "Alex" Hayes; her daughters, Judith (Leon Claiborne) and Debra (Michael Wiggins); her daughter-in-law Hermena Hayes (late Aaron); her brother Herman "Curly Top" Ward; her sister-in-law Kathleen J. Hayes; her grandchildren, Michael C. Wiggins (Marjorie) and Samira C. Willis (Christopher); and her great grandchildren, Amber, Christopher, Tamyah, Brandon, Morgan and Londyn. She is also survived by grandchildren and great grandchildren.
They continued to pray, attend outdoor worship, research and work with Union's members to sustain the Church through the Covid Pandemic under the leadership of Reverend and Mrs. Andrew Carey.
