She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter, Sr. Shands and Mary Lee Shands; her husband John Ellis; her siblings, Walter Shands, Jr., Nola S. Harvell (Timothy) and Ruth S. Johnson (Thomas); her sister-in-law Carolyn Shands; and her stepson Larry Ellis.
She is survived by: her siblings, James O. Shands (Mildred), Ralph Shands (Viola), Samuel Shands, Thurman Shands (Loretta), Shirley M. Shands of Stony Creek, VA and Mary K. Pegram (James) of Petersburg, VA; her sister-in-law Dorothy F. Shands of Stony Creek, VA; her stepdaughter Marilyn Ellis-Rodriguez (Pablo) of San Antonio, TX; and her stepgrandsons, Armando Rodiguez and Fernando Rodiguez. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Viewing was held on Sunday, February 2nd 2025 from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A celebration of life was held on Monday, February 3rd 2025 at 12:00 PM at the St. John Baptist Church (12364 St John Church Rd, Stony Creek, VA 23882).
