He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarice Monroe Cooper and Joseph Washington Cooper; his wife Elizabeth Morgan Cooper; and his siblings, Jo-Jo and Mary Esther Cooper (Sis).
He is survived by: his children, Chanda D. Cooper of Chesterfield and James A. Cooper, Jr. (Shantel) of Dinwiddie County; his grandchildren, Antonio, Cierra, Monique, Montel, T'Mari, James III and Jaxson; and his cousins, Sheila Craig Brown (Larry) of Chesterfield, VA and Andrea Anderson Tucker of Chesterfield, VA.
Viewing was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Joseph M. Johnson & Son Funeral Home - McKenney Chapel (11107 Doyle Blvd, McKenney, VA 23872). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 at 3:30 PM at the BIG Bethel Baptist Church (10110 Marguerita D Ragsdale St, McKenney, VA 23872).
