It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Hope Harrison Mitchell of McKenney, Virginia, who passed away on December 2, 2024, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As Hope Harrison departs from our midst, her spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Hope Harrison. Though Hope Harrison may no longer walk beside us, her legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
She was predeceased by: her husbands, Bennett Fultz and Mitchell; her parents, Octavious Llewellyn Harrison and Bessie Vernona Harrison; her granddaughter Bess Terry; and her great grandchild Aden Lewis Hawkins.
She is survived by: her daughters, Vernona M. Smith (John), Evelyn R. Mitchell, Janet M. Reames (Mel) and Betsy M. Smith (Joe). She is also survived by nine grandchildren (7 spouses); eleven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 8th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Concord United Methodist Church (16703 Walkers Mill Rd, Stony Creek, VA 23882).
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Alice Spiers, 25713 Courthouse Rd., Stony Creek, Virginia 23882 or to Petersburg Home For Ladies Fellowship Fund (earmarked for Magnolia Memory Care), 311 S. Jefferson St., Petersburg, Virginia 23803 or to Dinwiddie Retired Teacher's Scholarship Fund.
