He was predeceased by: his son Donald Wayne Dawson. He is survived by: his wife Mary Ann Dawson of McKenney; his children, Janice Carpenter (John) of Dinwiddie, Herbert J. Dawson, Betty D. Jones (Cameron) of McKenney, Cathy Dawson of Dinwiddie and William Edward "Sonnie" Maitland, Jr. (Jean) of Warfield; and his grandchildren, Lisa and Chelsie. He is also survived by many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
