She was predeceased by: her parents, Grover Thompson and Henda Patterson Thompson; her husband Joseph Melvin Austin; her son Walker Leon Howard, Jr.; and her grandson Terrence Allen Sayles.
She is survived by: her children, Scottie and Charles Allen "Mingo" (Angel Howard); her sister Nancy Louise Jordan of Tacoma Park, Maryland.; and also, Pamela and John Gerlt of Max Meadows.
