He is survived by: his wife Martha Woodruff; his sister Barbara Carter; his children, Anna Gallo (Steve) and James "Ellis" Woodruff, Jr. (Tara); his grandchildren, Meredith and Marissa; his stepdaughter Laura Babik (Abe); his stepgrandchildren, John Thomas, Emerson and Julia Carter (Jeff); and also, Caroline and Courtney.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Olivet Baptist Church.
