Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Leonard Simpson (Mathews, Virginia), born in Wheeling, West Virginia, who passed away at the age of 86, on February 28, 2020. He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Leonard Simpson and Louise Simpson; his wife Mary; his children, Leonard IV (Laura) and Louise Heaton (Charles); his grandchildren, L. Harrison V, Robert Simpson, Quint and Anna Heaton; and his sister Sally Temple.

“Dear family members of leonard, we at the community tax law project (one of buddy's neighbors at his office) would like to send you our deepest condolences. It was very special to have buddy as our neighbor, as he always gave us reason to smile. He always made time to say hello to us and quiz us about the college football games from the weekend prior. He made a point of asking all of our new employees and interns where they were from. He was a very special person and we will miss him. David”

He called me "Ms. NC State" because he knew I was an NC State alumnus and he loved to talk ACC sports with me. When my son received a Preferred Walk-On for the football team at Virginia Tech, he immediately sprang into action & with his connections, he had Sam Rogers call my son to give him words of encouragement. I could go on and on about the wisdom he left with me!”
